So, out of utterly random curiosity, does anyone else here use/collect fountain pens?

if you do, list 'em!

Here are mine:

Sheaffer Agio
Lamy Safari
Lamy Logo
Pelikan Tradition M150

and way, way too much ink (10 bottles; around 500mL)

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

This reminds me I still have to get ink for my fountain pen which my father in law gave me after I asked for him if I could marry his daughter

He gave you a pen, instead?

was it a good trade, in your opinion?

Or you got his daughter *and* the fountain pen?

I use Montblancs; have a couple of them on-hand, though I do need to get some ink. :/

You had to ask for the blessing of your girlfriend's father? I didn't know people did that anymore.

So, no, it's not funny, unless you are a moron who can't see a false dichotomy when you are laughing at the lame joke it's based on.

My wife and I told our families we were marrying. But then, we can make our own decisions without begging for permission from our fathers.

I use a fountain pen, but I don't own any expensive ones. I have a few of the Rotring Core, which I love. You can buy this pen for around $10.

I've taken full pens on planes with no ill effects - just be careful.

Almost bought a Core yesterday...

I too use a Lamy for school... I love them! I usually go for the metal versions (silver or platinum) rather than the plastic though...

Well the statement you just made is based on the false assumption that a man wishing to respect tradition and/or the wishes of the woman's family is 'begging.' Lighten up a tad.
My older sister's fiance came and spent an afternoon at our house and asked my parents' permission to marry my sister. My parents would have been totally okay if he hadn't done that, but my dad really likes that my sis's fiance showed that he respects my dad enough to ask him.

Someone missed the point of my query. I believe that airport security would not allow you to carry a loaded fountain pen on your person while boarding an airplane. sam

I sincerely doubt they'd care.

Unless they're banning all pens, they'd have to check each and every pen that walked on the plane - in a pocket, in a purse and in any and all carry-on baggage. Also, I have yet to see such an item on any of the TSA ban-lists.

I know. But it's kind of a nice tradition if you ask me. Now that I've done it of course. Courtesy is a bit lost nowadays.

I have a couple. My latest came from Eve's Addiction as a gift from my wife. It's beautiful.
