Its a game. You make up a caption for the image. In this case its German Chancellor Angela Merkel from the NSA phone spying debacle.

I can see why Obama wants to roll out a big fat "I had no idea" excuse, but doesn't that make him seem a little incompetent?
Okay, massively incompetent?

What's ironic though, is assuming Obama is lying through his teeth, he'll get to see what happens when you throw your extra-legal secret police force under the bus.
Hint: it involves leaks.

The POTUS is often kept out of the loop on the particulars of intelligence gathering. It's called "plausible deniability".

Not at all because of course no President could know so little about so much and maintain any reasonable degree of leadership capacity. For whatever reason, the buck seemingly never stops at this Administration, but it will file executive privilege to ensure whatever did not reach its desk is promptly kept from subpoena. Amazing really.

Well, he's either an idiot or a liar. Which would be more damnable, from a historical perspective?

Again, going back to being a ruler and not a leader. It's embarrassing, and makes me nostalgic for the days of Oval office BJs and Bushisms.

That's what I was hoping, and actually believed for about 12 hours:
White House OKd spying on allies, U.S. intelligence officials say - latimes.com
I always expected the US spy program to be a widely cast net, not surprised at all.
But when you get caught and get caught lying about it, well, you are under the lamp now.
The president should've been kept in the dark about this, would've worked out better for him.
Ah, but this thing called democracy, remember that guys? Christ, what a fuçked up country we live in.

You have a career politician with no real world skills being told whats what by a career bureaucrat. Whats pathetic is that for a politician his BS meter when dealing with subordinates is so bad.
