^^Sweet setup.
How is it using a projector for for a monitor? Is it hard to see?

hey Gene, those pictures are clearer than that last ones you posted, they're nice. I only request some new ones taken at night so we can get the full projected effect
nice regardless though, as usual

Of course it "looks great" (why wouldn't it?), but the Clow/Detloff (Harvard/Princeton) study has really resolved the issue of neck/vision issues of projecting computer images. The study suggests that once you get beyond 36" or so that the benefits to an individual (vs. a group) drops dramatically.

I would have thought that the color of the wall would cause the image to look discolored, or at least you wouldn't get pure whites. Is that not a problem?

What kind of projector are you using ?
I have to admit, it doesn't look all that clear, but that may be due to the fact that the pictures are poor, and the wall is colored, as somebody else pointed out.
How does text look with a projector ? is it clear/readable ?
I'd love to hook up my mac to a projector for certain things, but they seem way pricey, at least the good ones. Somebody i know has a good projector, but that's like a $6,000 sony projector. No way would I pay that. Hell, I'd get myself a Dual G5 3 ghz this summer/fall for that money, and still have a bunch leftover.

I recently tried to take some pictures of my home theater and had similar problems. The camera increases the exposure time making the entire scene lighter and my tubed hdtv way too bright.
I had to reduce the tv's brightness by 50% and increase the contrast slightly to get something that approximated reality in my shot.

Kenneth,
Here's a link to the book on bn.com (that's where i bought it):
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...21186494&itm=2
Title: Final Cut Pro 4 (Apple Pro Training Series): Editing Professional Video
Author: Diana Weynand
The DVD Studio Pro 2 book I bought in store at Barnes and Nobles because the price difference online wasn't too much. Both books are Apple Certified Training Guides.

Eyenovation,

I think the only thing that kills it is your winblows machine.

Eyenovation,
I share your sentiments. Unfortunately I bought the e-machine M5305 notebook before I made the switch to Macs... so I didn't know the joys of a Mac back then. And the powerbook that I want is slightly out of my reach... would love a 17 inch or a 15 inch with a DVD burner. I'm working on being completely Mac'd out. The biggest drawback with my setup is the pc laptop though... cause I can't edit with Final Cut Pro on the road. Anyone willing to donate a 15 inch powerbook with a DVD burner.. let me know (I won't be too pushy by asking for a 17 incher.... hehe).

My advice, dump the eMachine while you still can.
Find a friend that's a student, and take the plunge.
(*use their discount)
I have a 1.42 dual G4, and my productivity went even higher with being able to do work on the road. (got the 15" Al PB)
I had a Dell and know your financial pain. I took a loss on the notebook, but am glad I did sell it when I could. If were to have hung on to it, it would be worthless now.

Eyenovation,
I had a friend that wanted to buy it for 800... but that would have been almost a 700 dollar loss (i bought it with the 2 year circuit city extended warranty). If I can find a buyer for it.. for around the price of 900... it's gone. Otherwise I'll give it to a family member or keep it.. rather than take such a loss. If I just wanted the 15 inch powerbook without the DVD burner it wouldn't be such a dilemma. But working with video... I need the DVD burner. It will make trips to the library interesting... lol.

That's what I'm using...well a 5 foot folding table, but it's all the same compared to some of these nice desks.

They're actually Klipsch Promedia 5.1s The FL C and FR speakers are on the desk. The SL and SR speakers are out of the frame. They sound great. I'll post another pic of my setup closer to the desk.

SanDisk 8-in-1. It reads practically anything out there. uses USB 2 so it's fast too. Panther recognizes it fine. when i pop a card in it automatically launches iPhoto.

First, that image is *HUGE* when it's inline. Scale it down.
Second, that doesn't look much like a PowerMac to me.

...The company is Squatter's and the beer is St. Provo Girl; based out of Utah I think...my college roommate has that same poster with a nice little personalized autograph on it.

One of the best things about threads like this is how people take notice of the surroundings and not just focus on the Mac.
