My dvd playback has a few glitches, where the frame freezes for a second or two. This happened about 4 times during playback of movie. Is this normal? Can I do anything to stop it. Virtual memory is turned off and I have 320mb ram. Are there particular extensions to turn of or anything else? Thanx.

Some movies just seem to be heavier than others.

I try to keep AppleTalk off while watching movies (but then again, my machine is connected to a LAN so when AppleTalk is ON, it's getting information from the server).

You might also want to make sure Sound sets are turned off in the appearance control panel, i seem to remember something about that.

This also commonly happens when the DVD changes files and/or layers. It's just part of the DVD experience.

If it occured only 4 times, it's pretty normal. However, make sure processor cycling is off as a matter of precaution.

For best DVD playback make sure you have the following settings:

1) Turn off virtual memory
2) Select none as your system sound in the Apperance Control Panel
3) Set Colors to Thousands instead of having it on Millions (this won't affect your DVD experience at all)
4) Assign more memory to the DVD bPlayer application, in the Finder (File->Get Info->Preferred Memory)
5) Turn Apple Talk Off (in my case it didn't affect the playback)
6) Turn off PCs digital phone
7) Have processor cycling off (in my case it didn't affect the playback)

I am not sure. I allocated 30Megs, but I am pretty sure it does not need that much at all.
