I'd really like to change the default Page Setup page orientation from portrait to landscape for a particular printer. Is this possible? (I'd also like to change the default scale too)

Why do I need to do this? Because I'm using FileMaker to generate a report/document. FileMaker it takes a long time (3+ hours) to generate a database report/document. It generates the document as an A4 portrait document. If I then change the Page Setup to landscape 83% it needs to recreate (!) the document (another 3+ hours!). Only FileMaker seems to work in this strange way.

I'm going to start by duplicating a PPD and looking for any bits that look like "portrait" or "landscape".

Not sure if this will help or is relevant but in the print dialog you can setup how you want it to print then save that as a preset, then you can just switch to it when you go to print, I'm not sure if this will save FileMaker from reprocessing it or not, but it avoids the page setup dialog.

I don't know if it saved across different applications or even between sessions, but you can define different page setups for different Printers under the File>Page Setup... menu option.

Just select your target printer from the "Format For:" pop-up.
