I'm trying to get a USB/Firewire combo PC-Card to work in a Powerbook G3 Lombard running Panther. The card looks identical to the Orange Micro combo card but has a generic brand name on it. When I insert the card, the pc-card icon appears on the menu, and when I click on the icon, "Unknown Vendor" and "USB Controller" display greyed out underneath it. However none of ports seem to work. I've tried connecting a keyboard and mouse to the USB ports, and a hard drive to the firewire port, but nothing happens when I plug them in. Has anyone gotten a similar card to work? Is there anything extra that needs to be done, or should this work straight out of the box? Any help is appreciated.

You probably need a driver. Check the manufacturer's website. If there's no OS X driver, then you should have done more research before buying that card. PC cards just aren't used much anymore.
