You can simulate that situation by getting some new friends to play Versus with you I'm lucky to have a group of 4-8 people that are all starting around the same time so I've already got the two you mentioned. Unfortunately I haven't gotten Dead Wreckening yet and we're all getting pretty good now.

No duh. I'll consider going down that road when interest in L4D is waning.

Mostly luck. I was playing a quick campaign match on Blood Harvest (don't remember what difficulty). It happened near the end of the level at the farm house. I was upstairs facing the window when a smoker grab me. Luckily my cross hairs was already on him and I pulled the trigger.

Even got the achievement where you have to set the witch on fire. I don't even know how I got that one. It was my teammate who through the molotov cocktail.

I got that one. My team incapped somebody just before the safe room, but I told them not to kill the guy yet, just let him suffer for a while. Apparently, some people can't tell an obvious trap and the guy's friend came out guns a-blazing to save him. I pulled the friend away with my tongue and his teammates were just like, "Let the idiot die."

"Clever Girl."

One of my favorite moments has to be two guys at the end of Chapter 4 on "No Mercy", they open the safe room door... and make it no further.

Well apparently putting the generator in front of the elevator doors has jumped the shark. I played a game today where the INfected team just this, and after a few minutes we realized on of the hunters on the other team was jumping into the elevator and trying to move it out of the way for us (which it eventually did).

I just think it's hilarious that we were able to work out what he was doing and let him live long enough to accomplish it.

It's practically like a scene out of a movie (which I guess is apropos, given the style in witch they present the campaigns)

Total **** up on my part.

Anyway, there's a strong possibility of a L4D meet-up with my friends tonight, so if we get a few NNers in, we might be able to make this a douche bag-free affair (not counting Bogues).

early on i was worried the "repetitive" game play and short campaign would ruin this experience for me but... after playing through one campaign with you three geeks i realize the amazing thing that is killing a few thousand zombies with a shotgun. Good Times, Good Times!

Just wait til you play No Mercy for the 100th time...

I don't wonder if the reason we're having trouble finding games is people are finally starting to get sick of the only 2 multi campaigns. It's interesting, but I have two multiplayer games I'd like to play and they're both in need of updates if they plan on keeping me much longer (well, gears already lost me).

---

I think sek and I get some kind of achievement for our performance last night. As infected, we lost kb, but I still managed to snake the last survivor right out of the helicopter with my tongue, and on the other end, sek and I managed to survive with 2 computer controlled players -- and everyone escaped!

I agree the gameplay is so much fun it really helps make up for the lack of depth in campaigns, but it will only last so long. Hopefully they add more soon.

Miraculous indeed. Especially since when we ended up fighting the 3rd tank while in the chopper.

That was you? LOL! Yes, that was quite impressive.

Haha, that was me. You all would have been dead too if the tank was allowed to crouch into the chopper.

The funniest thing I saw last night happened right before I joined you guys. It was at the end of a VS match on No Mercy. My whole team made inside the chopper and we were waiting for it to lift off. Out of nowhere a hunter lunged towards us. While he was still in the air, the game cut to the scene of the chopper lifting off the rooftop. You could see that the hunter overshot the chopper and flew off the building. Before doing so, he hit the helicopter blades and was chopped up into little pieces.

It's odd, I never have trouble finding games solo. I think there must be some quirk in the matchmaking that's at work.

Man, I hate when that happens! It makes me want to kill my buddies to make the chopper fly away faster.

But like, the night I was playing with you guys, when I did VS by myself afterward, I had no trouble getting into games full of players. People would leave and others would take their place. I was thinking, "Where the hell were all these people half an hour ago?" It seems like people must still be playing, but for some reason it's hard to get a game started.

It's possible are just bypassing the lobby system, but that wouldn't explain how any games are getting started.

if you never knew about something...would you desire it?

thanks to this thread, I am now interested in L4D.

So...some questions

My friend has a iMac 24" 2.8GHz C2D. Can he run this game under Parallels/Fusion? Or does he need to reset up his iMac with Boot Camp (more effort). And will it play well?

I have a new Unibody Macbook. I also have a 24" Dell monitor. I'd have to get a displayport adaptor. Will it run well enough?

Thanks (I think)

As far as I know, none of the CrossOver/Parallels/VMWare solutions currently support Left 4 Dead. I know that CrossOver doesn't, I am booting in to Windows when I play.

Yeah, L4D in Crossover has critical graphics issues and is completely unplayable. You need Windows.

Great sequence tonight. Opening of no mercy, try to smoke someone from the stairs to the roof, fail, bolt up, cut right and jump off the side of the building with them chasing me. Dude comes out the ledge, tries to pick me off, falls off. The entire team had to come back to save him.

Otherwise, we got destroyed.

Left 4 Dead Survival Pack Unveiled

"The L4D Survival Pack introduces a new multiplayer game mode entitled, Survival, plus two complete campaigns for Versus Mode, Valve announced today."

Sounds like they're bringing us a Horde mode. Now let's cross our fingers this doesn't cost more than 400 ms points.

Sounds sweet.

Of course, given how long they've taken to port the Team Fortress 2 patches from PC to 360, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Their goal is "Spring" which is to say we got a couple months yet.

I'd give them more flack for the patch that hasn't arrived yet, but from what I've read MS's certification process can take forever.

Epic's having the same problem with GoW PC. Apparently they're done with the patch to let people play the game, MS just doesn't see why its a big deal that everyone who bought the game can't play it, so aren't in too much of a hurry to certify it.

Still one of the dumbest things I've heard of in a while. I heard one of the official statements suggesting to just turn your computer's clock back to play while they're still fixing it.
