I just picked up my MacBook. I love it! I bought a macmini last year as I have been a wintel user for a long time. Being in IT it's great to come home and have my stuff work and not have to troubleshoot. I loved it so well that I finally replaced my xp notebook with a macbook. I have a question about the battery...

I tend to use my notebook in periods of time usually at night. I have a toddler so I don't get to spend all night on the computer like I used too. Does it hurt anything to work maybe 20-30 minutes and than plug it back in? I do this several times. I didn't want to mess up my battery. or would I be better to put it in sleep. use it as I need than when it's finally drained to charge it up.

I feel like such a rebel getting a mac and being a windows network admin. everyone around me hates them but I don't think they have ever used them because frankly I think it's the best platform out there. Unix combined with a great user interface.

Secondary lithium batteries generally are best kept around mid-charge; draining them to empty is particularly hard, but constantly topping them up (e.g. 80%-100%-80%-100%) isn't good either.

Other than usage, temperature also has a big impact on permanent capacity loss; don't let them get too hot or too cold for prolonged periods.
