I don't have any scanned in or I would. *shrug* I've posted worse of myself.
And I was just joking. I was seriously making fun of the gal. It's not like she cares what some dork on the interweb says about her when she was a kid.

Apart from the fact that Madonna didn’t look like that when she was about ten (looks similar, yes, but not identical—she had completely black hair, for instance, whereas this girl [I’m guessing Gorn is right that it’s Lourdes, though I’m too lazy to go look] has dark brown hair), I’ve never seen a ‘regular’ (i.e., not professional, arty) photograph from the 1960s with that spectre of vibrant colour.

Wait, what? He posted that picture with the correct identification as Lourdes. His description:
Not only are her kids - including daughter Lourdes (above) - prohibited from watching much (if any) TV and eating junk food, but they also don’t celebrate Christmas.

Dakar over-reacting in attempt to make a baseless character assassination is even a classier act.
Again, this was a joke. This was not meant to be taken seriously. The only reason certain people are, is because WHO posted it. It has little to do with what is being said.

I meant this thread to be silly. In a silly way. And it did end pretty silly. But in a different way in which I expected.
So yeah, this thread has been officially marked 100% Silly.

Yep. IIRC, she came up through the NY feminist punk scene (think Patti Smith), so hairy armpits were all the rage.

AH.. I somehow don't see a connection between her and Patti Smith.
She probably was just following trends at the time.
But a thanks to you for not being one of the "offended" I could probably be the only person in here that could post a thread about how clubbing baby seals is bad, and still get flamed for it.
I should have known better than poke fun of Madonna in MacNN's forum.

Yep. That's what I'm saying. The NY fem punk scene favours armpit hair. Let's face it, a young Madonna prolly picked up a copy of Smith's "Easter" and thought to herself something like "hey, hairy girls can be famous too, I gotta get into that scene". Cue the young Madge knocking around in Smith's scene fronting a few fem punk bands for a few years before hooking up Jellybean and finding her early signature pop sound.

Dakar lets do some critical thinking. When I was making fun of said pic, who do you think I was making fun of.
A. Madonna at 12.
or
B. Madonna's daughter at 12
After answering that. Can you not see how the two are dissimilar?
Or have you suddenly gotten the case of the thin skinned over sensitivities?
Give me a break.

Well I could probably find random quotes from a lot of you making fun of celebrities. I honestly believe there are people that are getting "offended" more than even Madonna herself would have. I've seen some of you that are getting "offended" say a lot worse things than I have. Not only that, for some reason no one felt the need to attack Doofy for making the basically same joke about it either. I guess Doofy has a deflection shield on.
And you guys say I am uptight..
Hey I know, lets start a Photoshop thread making fun of little kid gymnasts that is hurt. Wait, no, that would be waaay worse than what I did.

Yes because in general public figures in here have been treated differently. I gave the example of a thread where most of us where poking fun at some a young gymnast that fell and hurt herself. We even Photoshopped pics of her to further produce laughs. Admins and mods joined in. A few people that are complaining and being offended in here did as well. Yet no one made a fuss. Just in case no one remembers.
Here's the one I did
Were we being mean spirited or shallow? Naw. We were just having some fun.
Apparently I have my standards when it comes to being shallow.
I don't think what I was doing was really shallow. If I was saying she was less of a person because of it then yes. I assure you I am not a shallow person. Had I known that as Madonna's daughter I probably wouldn't have posted this thread. I will say that.
And if I offended you by post this thread I a deeply sorry.
But I have a gut feeling no one here was really offended. The typical crowd showed up.

One doesn't need to be offended to think something is classless (Which the only accusation I made).

Pendantic? How about critically thinking? Actually making sense without making baseless accusations. Which this thread is full of.
But by all means, me being "pendantic" is the worst.

So tell me Dakar, did you think said Photoshop thread I was referring to was also classless? And the people that participated in it. Where they too classes? Or is it just when I do it is it classless?
And I assure you, I am not either. The very thought of anyone calling me shallow, or supercifical to anyone that actually knows me is laughable.
No, this is just an example of the same "Good ole boys" being conveniently "offended" not by what was said or done. But by who said it.
It's really that transparent guys.
Not that I expect any one of you to shock the whole forum and admit to it. No, this thread will go one with the same people acting equally "unimpressed" while dodging the fact that they have participating in such events themselves.
You walk all over anyone who dares to be a friend,
Scream and yell because you deem them unenlightened men

Are you saying that you are picking on people on the internets for "not having a grammatical variety"?
I'd rather have a limited vocabulary than to be so condescending as to attempt to belittling someone for it in a forum.
Talk about superficial. Don't worry, I don't think anyone in this thread will call you out for it.
Only certain people are allowed to act this way.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the stuffing. The turkey is best for sandwiches later on. I don't like cranberries, you can have them.
Does anyone eat the turkey heart/liver/gizzards? That's my favorite part of the turkey, actually. mmmm.

Awww now comes the Character Assignations. BTW the reason I keep using the same words, is because the same people continue to act the same way.
There is a pattern here.
So go on Laminar, attack attack attack. Make fun of my hair, my eyes, my dialect, my vocabulary or lack of, my purple mittens!
It doesn't bother me. It says more about you than it does I.
BTW neither Madonna nor her children are forum members. And therefore don't fall under the rules of attack. I am however a forum member.

Kevin wrote, way back:
"And I was just joking. I was seriously making fun of the gal. It's not like she cares what some dork on the interweb says about her when she was a kid."
So Kevin says he was serious about making fun of Lourdes even though he seemed to be mistaking her for Madonna, which in his mind made it ok. But he was joking. Or something.
