Samsung reportedly confirmed the existence and imminent release of the rumored 12.2-inch variant in its Galaxy Note tablet line. MovePlayer reported on Friday that the South Korean tech giant had confirmed that it has a Galaxy Note Pro unit in the offing, a device with a larger form factor but similar spec sheet to the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, which Samsung released earlier this year. The device could be unveiled as early as January, as Samsung may show it off at next year's Consumer Electronics Show.

The newest entry in the Galaxy Note line would supposedly pack a 12.2-inch display, up from the 10.1-inch display on what is currently the largest Note device. The increase in diagonal screen size would bring the Note Pro close to the size of the average notebook computer, at least in terms of device footprint.

That 12.2-inch display, according to rumors, would output at WQXGA resolution, specifically 2560 x 1600. Inside, Samsung would pack 3GB of RAM, though information on the processor is as yet unavailable. It would also reportedly ship with a 9,500mAh battery and run Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung has been pushing for its devices to see better adoption among the productivity-oriented. The company last year rolled out a split-screen view feature for the Galaxy Note 10.1, and it expanded that feature to much of the rest of its flagship models this year. Still, the adoption of the "Pro" moniker for this rumored device would indicate that Samsung is getting more serious about a productivity push.
