Samsung launched a total of four tablets at its CES press event, including one that appeared in an FCC filing late last year. Three Galaxy Tab Pro tablets, with 12.2-inch, 10.1-inch, and 8.4-inch displays, shared the stage with a stylus-equipped, 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro, with the entire collection offering the same 2560x1600 resolution, regardless of the screen size.

All four run on Android 4.4, have 8-megapixel auto focus cameras with an LED flash on the back, a 2-megapixel version on the front, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and options for LTE or Wi-Fi-only connectivity. Pre-installed software consists of the Samsung Apps suite, as well as Samsung Knox, ChatON, and a selection of free downloadable apps.

The 12.2-inch Tab Pro uses an Exynos 5 Octa processor clocked at 1.9GHz for the Wi-Fi and 3G version, and a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 for the LTE model, a design choice shared with the Tab Pro 10.1 and the Note Pro, though the Tab Pro 8.4 appears to just use the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800. Both the Tab Pro 10.1 and the Tab Pro 8.4 use 2GB of RAM and have options for 16GB and 32GB of expandable storage, while the other two increase the RAM to 3GB and the storage options to 32GB and 64GB. The Tab Pro 12.2 and the Note Pro also use a 9,500mAh battery, though this shrinks to an 8,220mAh version in the Tab Pro 10.1, and an even smaller 4,800mAh in the Tab Pro 8.4.

Aside from a boost to RAM and storage, the Tab Pro 12.2 and the Note Pro also share a number of software improvements. A Multi Window mode will allow users to split the screen into four different partitions, a Virtual Keyboard will apparently provide a more realistic typing experience through providing sufficient space and haptic feedback, and a Magazine UX optimized for larger screens will offer a dashboard for automatic feed updates and app management. Users will also have prepaid subscriptions to a number of apps, cloud storage, and content providers, such as Bloomberg Businessweek +, Dropbox, Evernote, and Sketchbook Pro, which Samsung values at approximately $700.

Though Samsung did not provide pricing information, it did reveal that the Galaxy Tab Pro range and the Note Pro would be offered globally, starting later this quarter.

Samsung now appears to be apeing the look and feel of Windows 8. Guess they got tired of Apple handing them their rear ends in court ...
