RTFM -

It says on the Google Talk site that you'll get that error and you should ignore it.

It's iChat's lack of TLS encryption...I think

Perhaps you should RTFM. Google's site says that you'll get a window stating your password will be sent in the clear, and that you should ignore it.

I don't see anything about his error.

Make sure the port is set to 5223 and not 5222 (as I saw posted on another site).

Check your gmail password -- it'll fail to connect if the password is wrong.

Thanks anyway everyone, but I have done everything you have all said so far. My password is correct, and I don't think its router settings because I can log in on my PC which is right next to my powerbook and on the same network and plugged into the same router.

Yeah, 5222 is for Adium, and 5223 is for iChat.

I managed to sign on, but I wonder what abt the security? I signed on with a window pop up saying "Your name and password will be sent in a way that is not secure. Do you wish to connect to this server?"

Anybody know what's up?
