I am running OS 9.2.2 on a Powerbook G4 500 Mhz, with a 30 gig HD, and 384 MB RAM. I have had the computer for about 2 years, and have used it extensively, ranging from web browsing and Office apps to Video editing with large files. I have noticed that recently, the system has slown down significantly in several areas, including:
-editing in final cut pro
-print spooling from word takes significantly longer, and the mouse turns into the clock for a long time
-loading web pages takes longer.
I am assuming that this slowdown is due to simply "junk" piling up in the system from the heavy use the computer has been put through. What i am wondering is does anyone have any suggestions for speeding it up again? I have a Diskwarrior, which has an optimizer to defragment the drive. Will that do it, or do i need to reinstall the system OS? And if so, do i need to simply reinstall the OS or do a Clean Install, in which i erase everything and reinstall all the applications?
Any help would be great!
