Hello Macnn,

I received a letter from the legal department of apple today accusing me of sharing the OS (Which I've never done!) or any other apple software (which I don't own). They are threatening legal action! Is this happening to other people as well. There was also a spelling error in their very confusing letter. Copywrite should be spelt copyright. I've pasted it below for you interest.

Any clarification of what they are talking about would be most helpful.

you received that via email? id say its a joke. besides the fact that no lawyer/legal dept would send something like that via email, the misspelling you pointed out is just ludicrous.

Definitely sounds like a prank. What was the return email address? Did you check the headers of the email to see if it really did come from an Apple email, or whether it was relayed through another provider (which is my guess)...

April Fools. First of all there is no such thing as "The Apple Legal Team"...Apple, Inc. uses a lawyers firm based in Washington, DC and all correspondence comes from them and i cannot remember there name at this point. And legal notices/documents are never sent by email, LOL. As for the spelling mistake...heh, lawyers can't usually spell but they can afford spell-checking software.
