Bummed to be posing this question here but I'm at a loss.

I have a PowerBook G4 12 inch that will not see my Airport network. It's not the wireless card as I can see about 10 other networks in my building. It's not the way the Airport network is set up as my G5 can see it perfectly. I have the PB right next to the base station and it still can't see anything.

Any clues?

Here is my set-up.

Internet -> FreeBox ADSL Router -> Airport Extreme Base Station.

Airport is distributing IP addresses through DHCP.

G5 is hardwired to the Airport but it can also see it wirelessly and can connect to it.

Could it be a software or firmware version issue?

Really at a loss here....

Thanks in advance,

Jordan

Using WEP or WPA? Mixed mode or 802.11g only on the AEBS? SSID broadcast on? Latest 10.4.10 + all updates?

You can use iStumbler to check whether the base station is sharing the same channel as the other networks, and perhaps change it to a less-used frequency if that is the case.

Should add one more thing....

I installed the Airport Utility (not to be confused with the Airport Admin Utility).

I'm using WPA/WPA2 Personal. Radio is Mixed mode. Channel is automatic (but maybe I should change that.)

Assuming SSID broadcast is on as my G5 can see it.

All the updates applied.

Didn't think of the iStumbler or KisMac option. Will give that a go and see if that makes any difference. Then again because the G5 can see it I have no idea why the PB won't...
