I thought I saw a thread the other day mentioning some other email services but I can't find it...

I'm just sick of Spymac mail not working. I need a RELIABLE email service. I don't care if it's not free as long as it's affordable and has POP and/or IMAP access alongside a good web interface. I'd like to go with .Mac, but $100/year is a bit much when I'm only looking for an email service. Gmail isn't public (yet? ever? whatever) and wouldn't offer POP/IMAP anyway. I'd preferably have something big enough, perhaps 100MB, but I don't need the whole 1000. And I don't want a Yahoo! address. I saw www.mailhaven.com which looked interesting...

One of the best there is. Free account has IMAP support.

Dreamhost is awesome.

http://dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

Starts at $ 7.95 / month, and offers a lot more than many other providers.

Being able to set up Spamassasin server-sided is just sweet.
Takes care of spam like nothing...

All Apfhex wants is an e-mail service. While great, Dreamhost would be over-board.

Maybe, or maybe not.

I agree, just for email, it's overkill.
But if you need some web-space, or a webdav backup space, DH is great.

Right. I already have a little bit of web space with my ISP, I'm just looking for an email address that's independent of them (like I've had for a while, through Hotmail and currently Spymac). Fastmail looks pretty good so far...

How much are you paying for your webspace ?

Maybe it would make sense to consolidate your email and webspace...

I get 25MB of web space for free with my internet service. Either way, web space isn't all that important to me currently.

fastmail.fm is an AWESOME alternative to .Mac if the other services on .Mac are too much for you or you don't want to pay $100 a year.

I get 16MB of ad-free mailbox space, IMAP access and an SMTP server, webmail access and I paid $15 [i]once.[/] Well worth it as an alternative.
