I guess this is what they're calling Divx 6 Pro for Tiger/QT7 (or maybe it's still Divx 5)? Divx Fusion

It's a beta, but since I just use VLC anyway and can encode with other programs in other formats, I haven't tried it. Anyone using it?

thanks for the heads up!

This is basically the same thing as what is already out on the PC side. (DIvx 6) They called that Fusion in beta too. Its because it supports new embedded interactive content like menus and stuff. (and this mac version should support it too )

I just discovered this the other day and I am so pleased with it. Finally I can watch DivX and XviD avis in QuickTime WITH the audio stream intact. It seems stable, and fast enough to play while compiling applications. Definitely give this a look.

Have they started using a real container format yet, and not their broken fake-AVI junk?
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

So I got this message…

therefore I download the Beta2 but I got it again and again, then I did a search looking for related stuff, all I can found is a file with the name 'DivX Decoder Preferences' with an Excel related icon BTW…

once deleted, nothing new… expired message again, any advice?

Well, since the beta has expired, as angelmb just made clear, I can't verify it but at least in older versions it was a Quicktime codec with export enabled. There's nothing stopping you from using .mov, if you prefer.

That .avi is used on a lot of files you find is because it is supported on all old Windows machines, it's not locked down like .asf and it sucks less than the old .mpg container. .mov is better than either (unless Bill's your uncle and you don't think it's a problem that .asf is so closed, in which case you could make a case for it) but since Apple insists on annoying everyone who installs Quicktime with requests to upgrade to Quicktime Pro, Quicktime is not a supported format on most PC installations, although iTunes is helping with that. I can't really fault DivX for not changing the default.

What would be nice is a new, generally supported container format that all players had support for. .mp4 was supposed to be that, but M$ is not going to support anything Apple-derived in a standard format.

Trust me, after a day or so you will experience weirdness.

Try running some screen savers.
