After doing a *lot* of research in finding an eventual replacement for my Labtec APX-4620 2.1 system, I came to the conclusion that the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX certified system would fit the bill. It's a little bit of a gamble (in-store demos are worthless!) but I have confidence that I would be satisfied.

I'm just curious, though, how something like the M-Audio StudioPro 3's or 4's compare to such a 2.1 desktop speaker system. I don't know if it's even a fair comparison to make, but I have heard quite a bit of mention of studio monitors to people looking for new speaker systems, and when I came across a link to M-Audio's products I was surprised to see they had something in a somewhat reasonable price range (in fact the StudioPro 4's can be had for about the same as the ProMedia 2.1's!).

If you're thinking something considered 'more accurate' by audio guys, like the M-Audio, you should check these out. I've heard they are fantastic and even have a digital input for when you can take advantage of that.

Thanks for the feedback! That's essentially what I figured, and I'd probably be happier with the Klipsch's fuller sound. The reviews I read mentioned a problem with the pre-amp going bad (Klipsch sells replacement pre-amps and they're not very expensive, however I don't know how well they'd be covered under warranty), but I've had good luck with my audio electronics so far. *knocks on wood*

Well I'm not sure when I'll get around to getting them, as they're a luxury item and I've more important things to do with my money in the immediate future, but I do really want them and I'll post about them when I do get them.
