My PB's screen started flickering just a little bit some months ago. It seems to be slowly getting worse (flickering more often). I'm not TOO worried since I intend to replace it the second the Mac Pro's come out, but it's getting annoying. Today I noticed something for the first time: every time the screen flickers it's accompanied by a sort of buzzing sound, coming from the right side somewhere around the right Command key. I don't think it's the hard drive (since that's more to the left) or the fan (that's towards the top corner). Not the speaker either. The Combo Drive maybe? Can't see how that could be though. What other parts in this machine are even capable of making a sound? My second conundrum is if this part is causing the screen to flicker, or if the screen is causing this part to make a noise?

That is wierd. It seems like the screen may be on its way out, but the buzz is just odd.

The buzz isn't every time, either. I looked under the case but the noise it definitely from around the Combo Drive, and I don't want to go through the trouble of taking that out.

Hopefully, it will just last long enough before I upgrade.

BTW, on Tuesday the backlight went and shut off completely. Ouch.

The next day when I woke it from sleep it was working again and it worked all day without problems.

Rather than chancing it, though, since having a functioning computer is important, I got ahold of the CRT that I used with my old G3 and am using that until I buy a new monitor (geh, I hate CRTs).
