Does anyone have any info about a special edition Golf that has its body panels painted in different colours? The colours used are blue, yellow, red, and green. I've seen two of these; one here in Concord, CA and another one in a parking lot at the Dsseldorf Flughafen. I've since heard that they were part of an extremely limited edition of about 256 cars.
Any info or links to info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ahh...thanks for the info. Without the "harlequin" reference, it was like searching for a needle in a haystack. It was indeed also marketed as a Golf here in the U.S..
A quote for somewhere: "The multi-coloured Volkswagen Polo Harlequin only appealed to clowns".
I think it looks quite good.

If you equate good with that "this car has been in loads of scrapes, and I got the parts cheap form the breakers yard" look. (bet the colour code plate is fun on them to.

They made the Golf in Harlequin trim as well, being that they dont sell the Polo on this side of the pond.
As for your second comment...

Good lord ... I like VWs in general, but this one looks like it was made out of spare parts.

Although it may look a bit differe, the MKIII Harlequin is actually very rare and brings quite a bit more money if the person purchasing it knows what they are getting (and vice versa).
There was 200 total made. Basically, what VW did was make 4 different cars, then swap the body panels. The color the car is refered to on insurance and such is the color that is on the C-pillar (or the roof).
This thread on the Vortex has some info and a few nice pictures as well.

I think it's cool. At least it doesn't look like the 501,271,783,819 other golfs driving around. Different is good.
