I know, I'll put up 54 auctions on eBay for G5's and displays that I don't have - even though I have 0 feedback I'm sure a few suckers will pony up! Then I split town!!

Oh, wait. This guy beat me to it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...727113422&rd=1

Be sure to click his other auctions.

Assuming somebody actually is stupid enough to send this guy money, he's got at least a couple month's rent out of the deal! Man, free money has sure gotten easier to come by.

Odd... it says he's "no longer a registered user", as if he/she was registered at one time.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...113422&frm=284

And if eBay somehow revoked his registration, why would they continue to host his auctions?

On the other side of things... anyone hear of any recent PowerMac/Display truck or store robberies?

Maybe it's a tv-sized cardboard box with "CINIMA DISPLAY" written on it in crayon.

Haha... they come with Applecare and an HP printer as well.

Payment Methods: "other"?

I'm sort of tempted to jump in on one of these. I'd like to see how far I could take him/her. Maybe I'd even go so far as to tell the seller that I am actually going to be in Iowa next week, and that I'll pick it up personally. Or using and escrow service, of which all the fees I would cover. Actually, the escrow idea is probably the best.

My big fear is having my pristine ebay feedback rating messed up by this con.

Edit: I just sent the seller a question.. asked him if he would do escrow (at my expense) where the cash gets released to him once I receive delivery.

I'll post his response if I ever get one.

I asked if he has any way to prove that he actually has these 54 machines to sell. Here's what he said:

No i don't this is why i use an escrow company to secure the funds until you recive and test it.

So that would be one of those...

I'll set up a fake escrow company by using images from somewhere else, and host it on my server, send out fake emails etc, and just run off with the funds when they transfer them to the 'escrow' (cough 'my') account.

Jackass.

By comparison, I asked if he'd be willing to use eBay's escrow service at my expense, and he has still not replied.

heh, I did the same thing! I asked which escrow service he used, he said "Which one do you use?" and I replied about eBay's escrow service. This was on Friday - no reply.

Whoa, all the auctions ended - some with bids up to $2000. Can't wait to see how his feedback turns out!

The best thing I've ever seen on e-bay was a bag of invisible goldfish. The guy claimed that you'd get a bag of water with some invisible goldfish inside. They didn't eat much. People bid it up to $3. Go figure.
