So how do I change Sherlock prefs to US so I can see the Stocks if I can't see anything in the prefs?

I dunno, they seem pretty competent to me, my prefs work fine, a clean install of Jaguar suggesting that it's user error.

Try deleting the com.apple.sherlock.plist file in ~/Library/Preferences folder.

You could also customise your toolbar once you've deleted the .plist, to put the stocks (etc) button there.
