My new 15" PB came with OSX 10.3.3 build 7G43. uControl won't install on it. I tried manually placing the .kext file in extensions, installing the start up items, and preference pane. The kext still fails to load. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I've tried this as well. Unfortunately, you need 10.3.2, for some reason 10.3.3 breaks it.

1. 10.3.3 already includes some keyboard remapping features that originally uControl provided.

2. According to the page, uControl's installer has already been updated for 10.3.3. You need to download the newest installer.

The newest version is 1.4.3 on version tracker and the developer's page. It still doesn't work on this build. What I really want is scrolling with the track pad.

This should solve your problem...in terminal, from an admin account, type:

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions<return>
<enter your admin password when prompted>

Then restart.

Let me know if it works or not.

copy uControl1.4.3.pkg to desktop

right click ->Show package contents -> resources

open "InstallationCheck" with TextEdit

find something like this, and change to the following:

if [ "$hid_version" == "1.3" ] || [ "$hid_version" == "1.3.1" ] || [ "$hid_version" == "1.3.3" ] || [ "$hid_version" == "1.3.4" ] && [ "$adb_version" == "7.0.2" ] || [ "$adb_version" == "" ]; then
exit 0; # we're fine, we're using 10.3.1 or 10.3.2.
else
exit 112; # display message 16 in InstallationCheck.strings (96 + 16 = 112)

Thanks this did the trick

madmacgames - thanks for the sidetrack suggestion. Worked fine, but I like using the modifier key to turn the track pad to a scroller better.
