Yeah, they're still on my to-do list. I plan on finishing the set after I'm done with several major projects (mid-May). Needless to say but Adam Iser didn't ask me to do this or anything.. I just want to do a matching set

Crap, did a CVS this morning after some weird stuff happened. Oh well, I guess I get probably all of the new changes, plus heavy optimization ;-)

I'm just happy the URLs over Jabber have been fixed, since tuesday or wednesday, I believe. Those quotes were annoying. AdiumX/Adium2 now does everything Adium 1.6c used to do for me, but it's now over Jabber, and I can connect to many other services, which I do, people from long ago might want to contact me someday.

Hooray for Adium.

The weekly update seems to be working very well now - i.e. the progress made if both obvious and has direction.

I haven't had any problems like that. As a general rule, if something seems out-of-whack with an Adium 2 build, delete your preferences, first. It would be way too much work for the developers to make all of the alpha/beta builds have compatible preference files.

Is there any time line for when it will reliably support AIM file transfers?

I once got a prompt to receive a file with the previous beta but it didn't work and eventually caused a crash. I'd like to be able to send and I hate logging in with iChat just to do that.

Adium 2 is a really nice product outside of the file transfer issue.

It's a known issue (obviously), but I believe they've said they're fairly dependent on the GAIM developers for this sort of thing. 0.54 should support sending files again though.

PM me your E-Mail (supply this when asked by the Adium Crash Reporter!) and I'll have the devs look at yours and see what they have to say.

sending in crash reports always helps (even if you don't particularly like/use the app), and, if you could, what protocol were you doing this in when it crashed?

I can't reproduce any of those three right now, using an AIM account in a recent CVS build. Which is not to say they no longer exist at all.

Glad you like it Zimphire, meanwhile a quickfix release is out:

- Fixed formatting when sending messages to oneself via MSN
- Fixed a crash when editing links that are in the view at load time
- Fixed emoticon pack loading to ignore empty packs
- Fixed a bug preventing Jabber names with "-" in them from connecting
- Fixed a crash when quitting while a tooltip is visible
- Fixed a bug causing passwords to be cleared unnecessarily, particularly when network errors occurred while connecting
- Disabled dragging web links into the message view
- Added advanced Webkit Message View preferences, which currently allow the customization of the contact name display in the message view.
- Improved menu performance

Yeah I love the transparent GUI options.

BTW, I like the "Smooth Operator" style but I wish there was a way to get rid of the icons.

It would look like this.

I posted in the Adium forums about it.

I'm not that familiar with the WebKit setup in Adium, but can't you just edit the HTML/CSS stuff to exclude the icons? Or are they placed by default?

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output

you can edit the themes, make your own. it's just HTML and CSS. I made one to invert colours, white text, black and grey background, blue and orange names ;-)

Not sure, I believe it's possible to change text colour without creating a "style" now, it was supposed to be in the latest version, but I haven't seen it....easy to do in HTML however. The icons are removable of course.

The Adium Extras site is good.

ANd the new .56 build gets even better.

Keep up the good work.

I tried out the newest version just to see how the progress was coming along on it, and I'm very impressed with how far this client has come. Right now there's just one tiny thing that seems to be holding me back from using it more often, and that is the use of a custom sound for a buddy alert. No matter what I seem to do, it doesn't seem to want to take the sound for the alert. If I'm wrong on this, then please let me know.

AdamBetts' site is so secksy... In other news, Adam posted this on the Adiumx website:
In Adium 0.54 we changed the way Adium communicated with its protocol plugins. The change was designed to prevent Adium from becoming unresponsive or beach-balling when the protocol plugin was busy (such as while connecting or disconnecting) and when the internet connection was congested or slow.

Unfortunately these changes caused some users to experience a lot of instability. Adium 0.56 will temporarily go back to the old method of communicating with the protocol plugins. This means that it may feel as if responsiveness has decreased (Especially during heavy traffic or on slow network connections). We hope to resolve the crashes in our new code soon and re-include it for a future release.
I noticed that if I left my computer for the day and came back from school and work, Adium would have been beachballing for nearly half the day (judging from timestamps on message windows left open). Today's .56 is back to normal, though... awesome.

This is just an FYI

You mean the menu to the right of the text field? I do believe this (or something like it) is planned. It's Brian's baby though, so you'd probably have to ask him for details.

WoW ate Adium 0.58, and now some of the developers are trying to track down the ogre that did it.

We believe he looks like this:

He is also wanted for offensive orders and eating babies. If you have any information on the whereabouts of this ogre, please contact WoWs Most Wanted's Ogre Victim's Unit immediately, at extension x4265.

(apologies to William Steig and ogre's everywhere.)

Yeah i knew there wasn't going to be an updated when I nabbed a CVS copy earlier in the week. It looks like the new status system is being implemented, but it also looks like a slow process. Hopefully they'll be able to put away the games for long enough to update it.

All glory to the hypnotoad.
