my girlfriend smashed my powerbook screen with a cell phone and cracked it i was wondering if apple care would cover it or how much am i have to pay to get it fixed

Read your AppleCare contract: it extends the warranty, it explicitly does not cover accidental damage.

For a 15" PowerBook, screen replacement through Apple is $1297, it's a bit more for the 17", I think. But you can do better elsewhere.

And see if your homeowner's insurance or credit card doesn't cover accidental damage.

Hehe... I have to ask... was this accidental dammage? Or was it clearly not an accident? I would definitely check out your home owners insurance. I know the insurance that my parents have (I'm still a student btw) does cover accidental dammage, so you may be in luck.

Which generation 17" PowerBook is it that you have? Is it the regular resolution or the new higher resolution.

Anyhow, I can do the repair... I charge less than AppleCare, but it's still really pricey (the part). Let me know if you'd be interested... you'd have to ship it to California though.
