Hi guys, for some reason, my iMac wont eject the cd tray now when I press the button on my keyboard. Does anyone know why this may have happened, and if there is a manuel over ride key combination?

not sure why they keyboard thing isn't working for you, but I'm sure somebody will.
In the meantime, you can eject using the Finder (click eject button in the sidebar, or drag the CD/DVD to the trash.)

Is a CD currently in the drive? Does the "eject" button in iTunes still work?

There is no manual override that I know of, save one. If you reboot the machine, hold down the mouse button until the drive tray spits out. You may have a disc stuck in there that's being a pain, which may be a reason why the eject key isn't working.
One final thought -- try using the eject menu (/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras) to see if it works, although I doubt that will help if the eject key isn't working.

The same thing happened to me after upgrading to 10.3.8. Turns out, the computer refused to recognize the existence of the superdrive. I had to start restart the computer and hold down the mouse. That forced the drive to open. Once this occurred I put in a CD and everything went back to normal.

whenever i have problems ejecting a cd or opening the drive tray i use toast.
open toast and click on the Copy tab.
Then use in the eject buttom.
no idea why, but this aleways works for me.

using Terminal this has worked for me.

go to itunes and try to burn a playlist for fun. it should fine no cd and eject the drive.
