When I try to run Painkiller, it says "Failed to create render." It installed fine, asks for the disc, and this is what comes up when I try to play the game. I am a native Mac user, this is my first Windows install, so any help would be great.

I have a 1.83 Core 1 Duo MacBook with 2 GB RAM and a 160 GB HDD, with XP Pro running via Boot Camp.

The Intel integrated graphics in the Mac Mini does not support Hardware Texture and Lighting. From the requirements for Painkiller:

"Minimum:
- OS: Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
- CPU: 1.5 GHz Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
- RAM: 384 MB
- CD-ROM/DVD-ROM: 8X speed
- Hard Drive Space: 1.2 GB available
- Video: 64 MB DirectX 8.1 card with hardware Transform & Lighting support (NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS or better)
- Sound: DirectX 8.1b or better compatible
- Input: Keyboard and mouse "

It sucks that Apple uses integrated graphics on the Macbook, but what can you do...

It might not, but I'd be surprised if that was the case. I installed Dawn of War under Boot Camp and ran it just fine and it stated the same Hardware Transform and Lighting support. I just needed to run a separate tool that was installed with Dawn of War to turn down the video settings and turn off the advanced lighting features. So you might try something similar if Painkiller has a way to configure it's settings before launching it.

Dawn of War is a brilliant game. It's a shame you've got to tune it down.
