howdy...

i would like to know how to use my mobile phone (cell phone) as my internet connection with my powerbook. the idea is to create a sort of portable dial-up system. i have been doing a lot of traveling lately and have needed to get onto the internet while in places that do not provide a dial-up connection.

how do i do this or is there a better way?

i am guessing there is a cell phone to laptop connector out there somewhere.

thanx in advance!

Depends on what type of cell phone you have. If you have a bluetooth one, it's real easy. T-Mobile also provides free wap, (which is only port 80 access), but they also offer a $20 unlimited plan for all ports. I only know about T-Mobile because I have a Sony Ericsson T610 and T-Mobile, and surf the web whenever i'm mobile and there are no WAP's available.

You can get good info at howardforums.com and there is a Yahoo group called maccellphone you can join to get info. Also, do a google search for "ross barkman" - his homepage has lots of info and scripts, too. Just can't recall the entire address. Good luck!

Really easy if you have B/T, do a search in the peripherals forum. I have posted loads of walkthroughs on how to do it...
