howdy...

there was a similar post last year in which no one responded to...

"Dual 867 MHz Combo Drive Problem" posted by pinkoos

i have just recently had the same problem and wanted to know if anyone has come up with a solution.

i have a dual 800 MHz G4. recently reinstalled OSX 10.3. after noticing that the drive would not recognize nor mount CDs that were produced commercially...adobe cs, various apple disks, and music CDs...i ran software update to bring the version up to 10.3.3. i updated to 10.3.4 yesterday to no avail.

CDs that i have burned myself on this machine or on others work just great...any commercially produced disk fails to mount. the drive was reading disks fine prior to the install...i am not positive about right after. this is the second install of OS 10.3 on this machine...the first time was about 4 months ago and had been running like a champ.

wassup widdat?

i really don't want to reinstall the system software again...is there anything else i can try to fix the glitch?

thanx in advance!

Did a permissions repair do anything?
