Starting to push the bounds of my Mac knowledge here...
My bank offers the ability to download QIF files with all my transactions in it whenever I want to going back for up to 3 months. What I would really like to do would be to log on every week, download the transactions and import them into my personal finance program. Even better is that I would like this to happen automatically.
Can someone help here? I'm sure there are others in the same boat....
Is this a job for Applescript, Automator, CRON, all of the above, or some other screen scraping application?

Just a wild guess ......
Copy and Paste/or copy direct to desk top - then import them into your finance program from there ...??
Or talk to your Bank ...!!

I dont know of a way to do it automatically...
but you can setup QUicken (came free with your Mac, just check the CDs), and have it go online and download transactions periodically. Actually, there you go for automatic.
I don't use that "feature" myself b/c banks tend to have cryptic names for the vendors, whereas I just want the name of the vendor, not their code number or whatever other garbage data shows up on banking records.

Quicken has this built in, I believe.
edit: You're in Australia. I don't know that this stuff works overseas.

I'm actually using iBank. Only been on it for a day or so now but it seems pretty good so far. In any case, it doesn't have an automatic import feature and the banks in Australia don't tend to standardise on a way of doing this. They generally all offer the ability to download transactions in either QIF or CSV format though.
Was hoping some bright spark had done this already.
Yeah - I'm in Australia so that often precludes using a lot of US solutions....
