We could do a test. Register a fresh box, and post it here only. Then count the spam it gets each month.

Is there a point to including sales tags?

If I were to write a harvester, I'd build it to AVOID harvesting email addies from spam threads. If not possible or feasible, I'd just indiscriminately harvest anything with an @ sign, regardless of context.

I'm trying for something more plausible. Something that will look to a bot like a real product / sales conversation. It may give an elevated score to the harvested emails. You could be right. But it was fun to write those paragraphs.

The plausibility factor is also why different staff members post each block. Spiders may downgrade one-pony shows, where a single person posts everything. So a different person will post a fresh block whenever the thread is about to drop off page 1. Gotta keep it easy for the spiders to find.

This is a thread for the patient. Spiders have to find it for harvesting. After awhile they sell a batch. Then they start coming into use as marketing groups buy updated lists. I wouldn't bother counting until a month has passed.

Note: better disable spam filtering on gmail, or it may delete a large portion of your catch. You can disable their spam filters with a custom filter rule: if mail does not contain (long random character string) never send to Spam box.

Too funny. And I'm sure Allah would take a dim view of what "Amina Farah" is doing were she a real person...

I'm sure there is a general frowning-upon among all the Abrahamic Faiths against using God as a means to achieve illegal ends. Something along the lines of, "Thou shalt not use the name of Jehovah/God/Jesus/Allah to cheat people out of money" or somesuch.

Of course, televangelists break that rule all the time, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
