What are your music service preferences and why?
I think I get more variety from iTunes, but Pandora has a better matching algorithm.
iTunes beats Pandora in the visualizer department.
If you give them both the same song seed, Pandora will give you more Rihanna, and iTunes gives you more Lady GaGa... I consider this a wash.
Desktop iTR is buggy, and will just decide not to work.
I consider them almost equal in my head, but I use Pandora a lot more, so that tells you something.
Spotify type steaming doesn't grab me for whatever reason. Radio is supposed to be a low-maintenance companion. I get irritated enough having to tell Pandora I'm still listening. I really don't want to bother with the effort of actually telling it what to play. I have my own music collection for that, and am pleased I get to pay the musicians a dollar for their efforts.
And if they don't allow me to give them a dollar, I'm ****ing pirating it, so get with the program, people.

I used to use Pandora but have switched to iTunes Radio mainly because I lost my Pandora password and am too lazy to figure it out (long time ago).
iTunes lacks Pandora's thumbs down button, but overall, I am ok.

Do you have issues with the desktop client being utter garbage?

Only the fact that it logs me out very often, which causes the dock icon to bounce and bounce.
Interface is a bit weird because of the sliding motion.

I subscribed to Pandora for years but when they bumped their price from $3/month to like $10/month I dropped them and use Amazon Prime now. The library is pretty small, it doesn't take long to hear the same songs over and over.

me too. In fact, I was using free Pandora, and am not sure I ever had a password.
I use it mostly at work, when I'm sick of my own music library, or going to sleep.

Since its launch, I've heard next to nothing about iTunes Radio. I'm guessing the Beats acquisition contributed to that, but I don't personally know of anyone who uses it instead of Pandora, and even more using Spotify, based on my Facebook friends' activity.
I'd be interested to see how many 'NNers are Spotify subscribers.

I find Pandora is still better at music discovery and is less repetitive than iTunes Radio. But the latter has improved noticeably in this regard since its initial release.

What do everybody's stations look like? Do you have a few, or a ton? Do you use artists or individual songs? What seeds are in the station you're listening to right now?

I know this looks like I'm doing marketing research or something, but I'm actually just curious.

Random thought: If I own a song in iTunes and it comes up in iTunes radio I shouldn't be penalized for skipping it.
I switch between my music library, iTunes Radio, and Amazon Prime Music.

I think I've only hit the skip limit on Pandora once, and I chalked that up to picking a station I didn't want to listen to as much as I thought I did.

I'm still not sure that streaming music will be the right thing for me... but with a 3 month trial, I can kick the tires.

I use itunes radio when I'm too lazy to make a playlist, don't have room on device for playlist, don't have the full album library of someone I like, or want to find similar artists to someone I like.
So stations: led zeppelin, concrete blonde, enya (sleepytime) alt rock, bluegrass, frozen (for kids) plus a few others.
I liked pandora's skipping method better, I think, but again too lazy to create an account.

So if I have a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that's not on iTunes at all, is it going to upload and stream to me?
Does this carry over your star ratings and smart playlists?
Anyone know, or do we just have to wait?

Also, a single user is $9.99 and a family plan is $14.99, but can two people who share an iTunes account use a single $9.99 plan?

The question of whether two people could use one account.
I'm assuming you can, but only one person can use it at a time. If you tried to fire it up on another machine, it would get blocked.

Would it be off-topic of me to bring-up the accusations of Apple trying to strong-arm Spotify's free tier from existence?
