I would like to download skype for making calls to the Philippines during chat sessions. I would like to know if thr built in microphone on thr Powerbook G4 will work with skype. Or do I need to buy an external Mic?

I have always used Skype with the built-in powerbook mic, and I must say it works great. If you are not too far away and given that you have the powerbook hooked up to an external display and keyboard, it will pick your voice up with the lid closed just fine albeit. Some people even prefer the built-in quality to el cheapo external mic

I'd seriously try to get an external mic or bluetooth mic. The internal one will work when you have no other option, but people always complain that they can't hear me well, and that they echo, and if the fan kicks on, even worse.

My PB mic works fine unless the fan is running, seriously, that is all people hear. I would buy an imic and a mic if you plan to do this often.
