Hi Guys, I have just received my very first Mac (MBP 17") and wanted to know if anyone knew of any good FTP software?

Any input would be appreciated.

Regards.

I recommend Panic's Transmit:

http://panic.com/transmit/

Or Interarchy from Stairways Software:

http://www.interarchy.com/main/

Both are excellent FTP applications. Transmit is perhaps slightly easier to use but Interarchy provides a few more capabilities. My impression is that Interarchy also has better AppleScript support, but that may not matter to you.

My recommendation goes to Yummy FTP... it's really excellent, highly elegant, and has nifty time- and headache-saving features (browse in sync and filters to name just two).

I personally use Cyberduck. The recent versions haven't been as stable, but they allow me easily to edit text files (html, wml, whatever) via TextMate and then write directly onto the server.

I'm also quite happy with Transmit. However, if you use Firefox as your web browser, FireFTP is worth considering.

There is a lot out there so ultimately this is going to come down to personal preference.

I would try out the FTP apps listed in the " What application do I use if I need to...?" thread [link].

My personal choice is Fugu. It's free.

Fugu only works for SFTP.
