Hi, wonder if anyone can help.
I have an old 15" G4 PowerBook that i want to remove the screen from. I want to extend the cable so it will still work with the rest of the laptop, but also want to add in a switch to the cables and want to be able to use some kind of component/SVHS/RGB input.
Does anyone know the pinout on the screen that i can splice to get it working?

Model - PowerBook3,5
Processor Name - PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Processor Speed - 1 GHz

Many thanks
Tichy

While you may be able to extent the monitor cable for a foot or so, iits not a VGA/DVI/etc connection so you can't feed it from another input. You could use a component to firewire adapter to get the other signal into the laptop.

Internal panel connections are LVDS flat cables, not available for external use like VGA or DVI. As mentioned, you'll only be able to extend to the length of the LVDS cable, which isn't very long at all.

I just saw the trailer for the new movie "Splice" and they're talking about splicing human genes with animal genes.

In this case, however, we're talking about splicing Cat5 cables to make a noose to hang spammers with.
