Questions about my new macbook pro 13" with the SD card slot. I have a sony camera. Is there an adapter to use the sony stick with this or is the slot useless to me?

thanks

What card type does the Sony's camera use? (eg. SD / Pro Duo)

You mean memory stick Pro Duo. No. Memory stick is Sony proprietary. You need a separate reader (or a PSP or other Sony device with USB) to read it.

SD (regular, mini, micro, and SDHC, all of which would work) are a standard that Sony has not adopted (and probably won't).

Yeah, this is kind of a bummer. I use a Belkin card reader in my older MacBook Pro's ExpressCard slot which handles all kinds of media, including the Memory Sticks from my Sony products. Why did Apple just put in a SD reader instead of a multiple-format reader? Licensing?

Either way, its a bummer and giving me a headache trying to figure out which MBP to get.

IOGEAR makes a little USB reader for MS Pro Duo that's about 10 bucks and thumb-drive-sized. It'll block the next USB port over, but it's pretty convenient if you don't keep something in that port all the time. OTOH, it might not be that much more convenient than having Sony's weird camera cable around.
