...like today I seem to have my yearly upper respiratory infection. Sinuses clogged and draining, feel like leftover roadkill, achy everywhere, and so on. I'm too unsteady on my feet to even bother getting up and moving around, and since I get dizzy when I stand up, I'm sort of rooted to the chair at the moment.

Sadly, I felt pretty darn good yesterday, especially in the afternoon and evening. I'd taken some decongestant for the stuffiness I already had, and woke up a little groggy but did OK. Today, I wasn't groggy, but by the time I got to work it was clear that "something" was going on. I was in for less than an hour, did my thing for one brief meeting, and clocked out. I'm going to get this crap checked out before I go back to work - I work in a rehab hospital and at this time of year our patients tend to be pretty sick already.

Ironically, on the way out, I saw a sign in the elevator about our annual flu shot drive starting tomorrow... Lovely.

Ugh, that's really bad. Sorry to hear it. I was thinking about audits, which for me have been an annual event for the last 5 years.

RA is kind of like having an infection all the time, without the congestion and sinusitis (but the added "bonus" of inflamed joints).

My annual used to be after our trip to Vegas/Laughlin. God only knows what is on a slot machine these days. We haven't had the funds the last few years so I haven't caught what ever happened to be going around that season. Not rubbing your nose/eyes or wearing gloves while at the machines helps to prevent coming down with anything.

Well the doc says it's probably a sinus infection, and I'm instructed to rest, hydrate, rest and rest some more. It sucks. I'm tired of being tired. But hopefully this will clear up. Saline rinses are part of the treatment plan, and I've used them in the past with good results - I use the bulb type so I get the rinse IN instead of ON my nose...face...chin...sink...etc.

Update:

I'm getting better. Really. I've been on the antibiotic since Thursday morning, and I've seen incremental improvements every day. I haven't needed a nap in a couple of days - but I still get tired way too easy. But I also don't have any of the "whoa, the world needs to settle itself down!" sensation that was the most troubling symptom of all. And it's been gone since Thursday evening.

I seem to be on track for going back to work on Monday. I think I'm happy about that, too.

Final update: I'm better. I finish the antibiotic today, and except for needing some yogurt for "certain reasons," I'm fine. I still need to work on my stamina, but that's getting better too.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Glenn.
I'm getting an upper GI scope this Friday for reasons that seem to have cleared-up already. *sigh*
Still, there's that unintentional weight loss no one can explain, so...
Getting.

Glad you're feeling better. Go get yourself some Kefir. Superpowered yogurt. Comes in big quart bottles in the dairy section.

I'll look. Those symptoms are essentially done now, but the Kefir couldn't hurt.
