Rage 128 or Radeon?

I have both a PM 8600 and a PowerBase 200. I want to get a graphics card to go in both of them. I do plan eventually to use X on these machine. Should I get a Rage 128 card or should I get a Radeon based card. Was there a huge performance difference in them to warrant the difference in price? I was looking at either a Radeon 7000 or a Rage 128 Orion.
Anyone know where I can pick one up cheap? I scour ebay and usually the prices are as high or higher than what I can buy commercially.

Radeon, BY FAR!!! Even if you put the Rage 128 in a fast machine, it will still run slowly. If you really want to, there is a PCI version of the Mac retail Radeon 8500 (which is nearly twice as fast as the 7500).

I have never seen a PCI version of the 8500. I have been only been able to find AGP versions.
I thought the 7000 was the highest PCI card ATI made.

according to ATI's website, you thought correctly...the 7000 is the last PCI Radeon. And I though the 7000 is just a re-packaged original Radeon.
As for performance, it has MAJOR advantages over the 128 in 3D, and 'bout the same in 2D...I think you can find Radeons around $100-150...it's worth it at $100.
Now, my question is, what did nVidia do to the Virtual AGP project? where they tried to emulate AGP on PCI or something like that...sounded cool, but haven't heard anything since 'bout 2 years ago <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Radeon by far. My buddies next door put a PCI one in their B&W G3 (and took out the Rage) and now they can run Warcraft III. Buy it, or buy a new computer. Depends on what you want to do.

I don't think the RADEON is going to do enough to the PowerBase to make it a worthwhile upgrade. I think you should stick with the factory video on the clone and upgrade your Power Macintosh 8600 to a PCI RADEON.
