Hey guys, now that Xbench hit 1.0 it may be a good time to start benchmarking and comparing. I, for one, am very interested in how my iBook is in comparison to some of the later models. So lets get the party started >

Model: 12" iBook 600Mhz, 640MB RAM, 8MB ATI Rage, 20GB HD

Running while testing: PTHPasteboard, Hourse Menu, Fuzzy Clock, Stickies, WindowShade X and Terminal.

Not quite as fast when I have apps running.

Yeah, I just overclocked it recently, not a bad speed upgrade for a few hours work.

Here's mine:

No software running

Xbench 1.0 Score: 47.99

Model: 12" iBook 600Mhz, 384MB RAM, 8MB ATI Rage, 40GB HD

My score is high because I swapped in a 40GB Travelstar GNX drive. (which nabs me a disk score of 54.94 vs. ~20 something with the old 15GB Travelstar it came with.)

I also have 512mb coming soon.

iBook 500 OC's to 600 w/640 MB
Score: 43.88

Question for lazy1, did you perform the Open Firmware hack?

When I tried it's screwed up my system clock so I've reset my firmware so ASP reports a 400Mhz.

53.04 for my iBook 800 MHz stock with 384 MB RAM

Just to compare I also tested my iMac FP 800 MHz 512 MBs RAM, and my MDD Dual 867 with 512 MBs RAM.

68.39 for the iMac
109.86 for the Power Mac

First post, so here goes

Here are some detailed results for my iBook 800/640Meg/10.2.3. I have reported the lowest & highest readings for 3 trials and for 3 settings of the Energy Saver (ie: Energy Saver:Optionsrocessor Performance). No other applications running.

E. SAVER: Reduced Auto Highest
Overall 36.04-36.55 46.22-46.85 51.78-52.05
CPU 43.15-44.26 55.75-58.71 84.46-87.73
Thread 29.69-30.75 44.81-47.32 62.03-62.20
Memory 26.95-27.37 29.34-29.57 30.02-30.27
Quartz 51.17-51.41 67.12-68.16 79.01-79.50
OpenGL 30.18-30.59 45.74-45.98 46.89-47.05
UIF 41.97-42.12 58.97-59.41 59.65-61.56
Disk 41.80-41.89 41.86-42.12 42.38-42.49

Comments:
- Energy Saver settings affect the results (except disk and, somewhat memory). This might account for some of the variability reported in this thread.
- Results fairly repeatable (eg: min & max are approx same). Largest variability seen on CPU for Auto & Highest Energy Saver setting and Thread on Auto Energy Saver setting.

OK. I see on preview, that my spaces get clobbered makeing the table hard to read. Sorry folks !
