Hey all,

Thinking of bringing an iPhone up to Canada on next trip down south. The person I am getting it for just wants it unlocked so she can use the iPod / wifi / pda type features right now. In other words, she doesn't care about SIM unlocking, EDGE, or using the phone at the moment. I think she should just get a Touch personally, but whatever.

So, with the new firmware, can the unlocking apps like INdependence still do their thing?

Cheers!

no. 1.1.1 is locked down much tighter than before, similar to the iPod touch. It'll be a while before anything like jailbreak works again.
