Hi,

maybe some remember Descent 2, a 6dof shooter classic, and D2X, an OpenGL port of this game.

D2X-XL is based on D2X 0.2.6, but fixes virtually all of its bugs and flaws and adds a host of new features, like
  • Mouse control working properly, improved and dual joystick support
  • Improved support for playing Descent 1 missions
  • Fully implemented capture the flag game mode
  • Entropy multiplayer game mode similar to the one found in Descent 3
  • UDP/IP communication and tracker support
  • All cockpit styles available in all screen resolutions
  • Colored lighting, cameras and monitors, in-level teleports, speed boosts (wind tunnels)
  • Increased number of cubes, walls, triggers and objects
  • Support for environment areas (sky boxes)
  • Triggers attached to robots
and many more.

D2X-XL is available for MS Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. You will need the original game data and a 3D accelerator ot be able to use it. See my Descent 2 site for more infos.

Ugh. Just looking at those screenshots makes me start to feel motion sick. Never been able to play that game for more than a few minutes without feeling ill.

Cool. I wish I had the data for this game, it'd probably be pretty fun to play while blazed.

Heh, I used to put Descent 1 on a huge wall with a video projector and just zone out

A buddy of mine once walked in and it took him only about 30 sec before motion sickness set in
