Ok, I finally got off the snide and purchased a new iPhone - WOOHOO.

I have a little (tiny) bit of buyers remorse. I opted for the 8gig and not the 16. Now my music library is too large to fit in either model but I'm thinking that the 16 might have been a better choice. I was given the option to try this out and I can exchange (plus paying the diff) the 8g for the 16g.

I also own an iPod classic (the 160g flavor) and I envision that I'll use that for the majority of my listening pleasure.

How many iPhone owners here opted for the 16g over the 8 and why. The dude at the att store said most people opt for the 8g unless they want the white version.

My phone appears to be working flawlessly, so I'm a little hesitant to just trade it in but I am thinking the 16 might have been the better choice.

I got the 16GB.

You should definitely get the 16GB, if you still can.

I'm with turtle. I'd also try to get a 16 GB replacement. IMHO the difference in price between the two models is far too small to warrant getting the 8GB model unless you have almost no music and no movies.

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps I'll give the ATT store I purchased the iPhone a call today.

While I don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish, after using it for a day (I bought it saturday) I can easily be content and live within the 8gb confines. Yeah, I'll need to use a smaller subset of my music then if I had owned a 16gb but like my original post, I'm only having a tiny bit of buyers remorse. regardless I may give it a shot today, I wonder if the promise he offered was more or less sales puffery to get me to buy the unit.

The reasoning for choosing the 8 over the 16 is was purely economical, If I don't need the the extra 8gb, why spend a c-note.

Well I did it.

As you guys put it, for a hundred dollars more, I double the storage. No regrets though I do hate to see 100 dollars fly out my checking account given the amount of money I spent this weekend. In the long run, I think I'll be better off.

Thanks for the advice
Mike

I opted for the 32gig white iPhone. Sweet, I love it.

I think that was a good decision. You're locked to the device for at least 12 months — in most countries more. So it's less than $8 per month for twice the storage. I pay that much for a coffee at Starbucks every time I'm in Copenhagen.

Oooh, Copenhagen.... nice place. Been there once, stayed for a day and a half. Really nice place. And yes, the 16 gig iPhone is a better choice. I always end up buying more than I need, just in case the porn starts to add up. Those videos are huge, man.

Without disk access I couldn't (didn't) pay the premium for the space. I'm totally fine with 8Gs.

The lack of disk access does not concern me. Its the ability to hold everything I want it to hold, now and the future. With the 8gig model, I found that I nearly filled it up with a subset of my music, never mind movies and tv shows. I don't plan on using it to watch movies all of the time, but when I'm traveling, it would be nice to have a few movies, and my music.
