In the past day or so I have gotten this message from iTunes, Safari, and many more apps. I have never seen it before, does anyone here know whats going on?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

Well I am still getting this message way too much, and its really getting on my nerves. I just got it in safari and instead of responding I quit safari. Did the window go away? Of course not, I only got another one on top of it.

This is starting to feel like windows, and I don't like that at all.

The Syndication Agent will be the background app that does RSS feeds - for Safari and QuartzComposer.

I have never seen that dialog before - did it crash by any chance? There is a new option in tiger where you can re-launch a crashed app with clean prefs - perhaps you did this?

Thanks for the replies guys. Well Word 2004 got stuck earlier so I force quit it, but nothing else has been going wrong lately. It just seems like a pointless message that bothers me by taking away my typing focus more than anything else.
I have gotten the option to reopen apps a few times in Tiger, mainly with VLC. I restarted my computer last night though and don't remember reopening anything during the day. Also the second time it changes to retry again or something.

That has SOOOO ****ing annoyed me over the past few days (since updating to 10.4.1), it's crazy.

solution: turn off automatic RSS updating in the Safari preferences.

Been gone completely since then.

That's no solution; that's avoiding the bug.

You see this dialog because the SyndicationAgent is crashing. You need to look into the crash log for hints on why that might be so for you.

Okay.

I've deleted the Database file at ~/Library/Syndication/Database3 and will observe what happens.

Addendum:

That actually appears to have fixed my problem.

I have not seen the above dialog boxes since.

hi there ! same problem with syndication agent. it started to appear after I'd downloaded iTunes 4.9. I deleted the folder "syndication" but it keeps on reappearing. Also it seems to be running in the background as my trash bin told me when i wanted to empty it clean with "database3" inside.

Plus, if you clik "yes" on the dialog box, it seems to forget passwords you keep in your keychains. At least it did with the password I use to connect to my iMac via airport.
Will try to keep Safari and RSS off for a time ans see what happens.

Any information about that boring windowslike self powering subapp welcome.

Silk.
