I installed office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition on my G4 tower with no problem.

However.... I have tried installing it four times on my Powerbook G3 and it fails every time out, whether I try the Setup Assistant or dragging it to my folder.

I get the following error message repeatedly:

"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "Ms Gothic.ttf" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)."

Any ideas what this means and how to fix it?

Are you Panther or Tiger? Sounds like a corrupted/missing font.

According to the Microsoft tech support person I emailed (you get two free emails or calls of support), this could likely be due to an incompatibility with the installation program and the DVD player on my Powerbook.

I was given a case number, told to call Replacement Product - and much to my pleasant surprise, I didn't have to hang on hold for hours as is the norm with other companies (including Apple) and they got the replacements underway immediately.

Now I await the new disk and hope the old Pismo plays friendly with the new Office installation.
