I am really tired of my icons and desktop image getting messed up each time I connect an external display. I use an external display at work everyday, then come home and use my PB without the external display. Any ideas on a method or app that would keep profiles for each config so I don't have to keep switching things around on a daily basis?

I have the same problem... I'm not sure there's a fix though. Maybe someone knows?

I've also noticed the same problem when I plug my PB into an external projector for presentations. However, I do not always get the problem, just occasionally. I suspect that the problem only occurs when I close the lid to sleep the computer before unplugging from the external projector. I *think* it doesn't occur if I unplug the external display (projector) before putting the computer to sleep. Anyone can confirm this?

Hi:
I work on a rev B PB 12' with an external CRT at the office. When I use it at home without the monitor, icons are rearranged at the desktop but when I plug it in again they are set back to its original locations. Don't know what the difference is with other setups. I am using 10.3.5.
