Thanks DH - one more thing to add to your list-of-complaints: I liked having the topic starter in its own column on the thread-list page. Any thoughts on putting that back the way it was?

By the way - those pull-down menus at the top are pretty darned cool!

Yeah they are. Even cooler after I realized you only have to click once on the bar and just mouseover to get them

can we get sexier user classifications? Such as "No-Lifer", "Pathetic", "Waste of Bandwidth", "IntraWeb Parasite", or "Social Pariah"?
thanks.

I'm not so sure I like "Last Page". Sometimes, when the number of posts in a thread broke a multiple of 50, it was easy to click on the next-to-last page and start reading from there. Now we don't have "Click to read new posts", nor the ability to click the next-to-last page. One or the other would be nice.

As it is right now, the thread listing page is extremely screwed up in Opera (7.5/XP).
The "page 1 of 230" bar with all the numbers just continues up until 225-and-a-half (it gets cut off right in the middle of 226) and takes everything else with it, so the page is about 3 miles wide and only the first column (which, luckily, is also the most important one) can be seen without vertical scrolling.
Looking forward to seeing this baby go GM (ie. the design being tweaked to perfection)

Last night I was refreshing the forums like crazy. It was kind of neat to see the progress. First just text, then text with ads, then blue Vb3 with updated MacNN logo, then this.

Were post counts affected? Does gorickey still have 10,000? It would be a shame if he had to un-retire... it's be like that Bernie Mac movie...

Oh yeah - what happened to the red-circle-with-black-dot 'type' for new posts in threads you've posted in? This is confusing me...

10,000 is still intact for gorickey.

Hmm, posts of ignored users stand out quite a bit! Also, get rid of the silly stars...

nested quotes? Yeah... looks a bit dull though.

Woah, psychedelic...
Actually, the fact that it cut off the nested quotes was one of the things I really liked - will it be back later on?
Also (minor little suggestions):
- Use dates instead of 'Today' and 'Yesterday', or make this an option in the User CP
- The little line between the posts and sig is still there... please, can we get rid of it?
- Take away the italicizing of quoted text
More to come later...
(Sorry if this has all been covered before, I haven't read the forum suggestions thread)

I thought you were planning to get rid of post counts after the move. Are you still considering this? I think it would be a good idea.

I like that you have relative time periods instead of actual dates. Its more intuitive. Also the font is too big by default, You should be able to change it in preferences. Also as others have said there is a lot of space. I love the thread rating system. You should add a similar system for users. I would also like to have the first unread post link back, it was great. The edit reason thing is also good.

Well, I've seen worse... but the old layout was better. Still, I can live with temporary
|
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Displaying all 230 pages of threads that are within the Member's Lounge is killing the display of the ML.
You can configure it easily to display less, in fact I do believe it's an ACP option.
This can also be solved by setting the defaults for a couple of the User CP options.
1) Default threads listed. It shoud be all from the last month or such, instead of "Display all since the beginning"
2) The default setting for thread subscription is set to something. It should be set to nothing. This way users will have to check the checkbox in whichever thread they wish to subscribe to. Since most will probably not note the option to set their own default within their User CPs. Especially newer users.

I don't care whether post counts are displayed or not, but I *DO* care about my own post count (personal reasons)... if you turn off post count display it would be nice for us to be able to go into our User CP and be able to find out what our current post count is.

I'd imagine that they'd remove the variable to display the post count from the postbit template (which controls the appearance of the threads) but keep your current post count inside the profile view of your user account.

Not sure if this was mentioned or not...I only did a quick scan.
You cant apple-click and have member profiles come up in another tab.
You can right click...but who wants to do that?

Sweetness, I like the VB3. I am a member of another forum and they switched to VB3 awhile ago, so i guess my growing pains are a lot less...
can't wait to see the final theme...

Posting in the thread to say:
1) Everything looks great to me. I've seen a lot of tasteless forum themes on boards running vb3, and this actually looks really good.
2) Thank god that blue storm 1337 dicksmoker is banned. Glad to see some good INTERNET JUSTICE getting employed around here.

Whoa..you live in Defiance? I live just a little north of you (Fulton County). Sweeet.
OT: Yeah, I agree with keeping post counts. Not that I have a lot or anything...But hey, I earned every one of those posts. Plus it's a good gauge of how much of my life I'm wasting.
