Thx Makki, you're right, my questions wasn't so clear

I installed the theme on the PC, I had been able to extract icons (thx to IconShop), but...
... I'm being crazy in order to have also the desktop pic to use on my Macs.
I don't find the way to extract it from the PC theme

Thx again

When you apply the theme look in your documents and settings folder: search for "wallpaper1.bmp" without the quotes.

This will be my first original theme........ It's funny, knowing how much I dislike dark themes, it's quite ironic that my first original offering will be....... a dark theme.

Theme: Simple 9
Background: Sunset? I don't really have a name as it's just something I made.

Theme: NEOS
Background: I didn't have a background that went withthe theme very well, so I threw this together.

I'm a newbie, how do I download those icons? I went to the alienware site, but you have to downloard a 40 MB exe file which doesn't help me since I don't have a PC or VPC.

except for the fact that non of these icons are makki's original work and probably hasn't got permission from alienware/skins factory.

that and if bbx finds out all hell is going to break loose and he'll probably never ever ever release anything again.

That wasn't what i was trying to say fireside, what i meant was the direction on how to attain the icons yourself using VPC or a Windows box to help BatMax and others out. Like DigitalJames had to do with Handel Gothic Light and the Silk threads.. I for one had to ask DJ how it set it up to get it to match his screenies...

I think Makki has been around long enough to know the rules.. Don't you?

except for the fact I don't think those icons are not bbx, they're voo's. They're basically AA with different colours, I think skinsfactory got skinplant in on the deal and this was the result.

Well, whoever made them shouldn't have much to say....they have allowed the .png files to be distributed on Wincustomize.com Mac users only have to download Pic2icon and they rest is history.....

I've not messed a whole lot with the GUI mods (although I've recently applied Milk via Shapeshifter... very pretty), but I do like a lot of the replacement system fonts I've seen. My issue is that with a lot of them (Helvetica, etc), they aren't sized like Lucinda Grande and look horrible in buttons (off-center). Is there anything that can be done about this or do you just have to deal with off-center button labels?

It is a very common problem with replacement fonts that the baseline is too high or too low. Unless you have the patience to manually adjust the font in a font editor, there is nothing that can be done. Precious few fonts have a suitable baseline for use in OSX. The ones that come close are the ones that you see everyone using in this thread, i.e: HandelGotDLig (or even better HandelMod), Eurostile or Helvetica Neue.

Yeah, it's a mod of HandelGotDLig, as the name suggests. Somebody on this thread did it. It just addresses some minor baseline issues, aswell as substituting the numbers for better ones from another font. There is (or was) a download link somewhere in this very thread. Do a search for it.

Is there someone I could PM for it? Also, does it look better than HandelGotDLig? Thanks.
edit: As long as I don't use it for commercial use, it should be fine to use, right? I'm not so familiar with the rules of font copyright, sorry.

Go on then. I'll send it to ya. It looks better than HandelGotDLig a lot of the time because of the baseline thing. Sometimes HandelGotDLig can look bad. However, HandelMod has smaller letters, and because of this doesn't look quite as nice in the menubar. Very close though. Worth the sacrifice to have a better allround baseline and better numbers. PM me you eMail address and you'll see for yourself.

AA was supposed to come to the mac dj, and imo, they were much nicer in their original flavours. Voo is a mac user, so I am sure he's pretty stoked that they're still heading our way.

Ozzpot, could I possibly appeal to your sensible nature and PM you for the font? I would most certainly appreciate it. And thank you for the explanation - I'm not much on the whole font thing. I spend my day at work looking at code - very plain, very boring. Might have to think about changing that, too
