Does anyone know if the new MacBook Pro 13" has the same 6 bit screen as the plastic macbooks, or an 8 bit screen with full color range? If it has an 8 bit screen, this little laptop really would be damn near perfect. A matte screen would make it truly perfect!

Of course it's 6-bit. I would be shocked if it weren't.

Seriously? That sucks. I hate the color banding all over my current macbook.

6 bit with dithering, same as all of Apple's laptops.

Nope, a 6 bit panel with temporal dithering.
There's plenty of quality variation between 6 bit panels (see last years MacBook compared to a 17" MBP), but they're still 6 bit dithered.

To the best of my knowledge, the last time Apple made a laptop with a panel that wasn't 6-bit was when they made black-and-white screens that were 1-bit.

They had greyscale in there at some point.

Plus the PowerBook Duos (except the 270c, obviously), IIRC.
