I've just bought Massive Attack's cd 100th Window, and I would like to import in into iTunes, but it is copy protected and doesn't get further than 1.5MB. Is there any method to crack this protection? Windows / Mac OS 9 or X?

records label should understand a little something.
i have a huge HD in my mac plugged with speakers all over the house, and an iPod. when i buy a cd, i put it in my mac an convert it to mp3 and put the cd back in the case and i don't even touch it anymore. what is the point of buying this cd if i can't listen to it the way i like? i don't want to buy a cd, i want to buy the music on it...
it doesn't sound like ''protection'' to me since i have no reason to buy it because i can't listen to it. also, it's been on the net since at least a month... talk about a great anti-piracy system

i bought the copy protected CD here in japan (though it's called "copy control"). the whole album rips fine in itunes on my 800 mHz ibook... no problems whatsoever.

We had another thread on this a little while ago. My Canadian release rips just with iTunes 3 and OSX, though I'm using an LG CDRW/DVD combo drive and not the stock Apple one.
When you put the disc in, the Windows partition shows up as a seperate icon on the Desktop in addition to the audio portion.

I bought the Australian release (also had that copy control garbage on it), but have since returned it. All the tracks other than track 1 could be copied fine (not always.. the audio CD icon didn't always appear). Does the US version have the copy control too? I'm planning on importing the US version if it doesn't.

Here's how to import the european version:
1. Insert the CD in your drive and drag the AIFF's to your hardrive.
2. eject the CD and open these AIFF files in iTunes and "import as mp3" from the advanced menu
3. There is no step 3
Importing copyprotected CDs right to iTunes may cause skips and pops.
YMMV, but i have the whole CD in 256kbps in my library
