You can cut the button you have in half, it's still only connected to one button.

I would guess that the motherboard does not have the ability to interpret 2 clicks. Since it is not supposed to. But this would be an incredible upgrade!

Cut the button in two... And just run something over to the 'control' button contact on the mobo... So when you click it'll hit the control key.

I'm sure it's not THAT simple!

Try using Sidetrack. Aside from the emulated scroll wheel on the side of trackpad, (the ONLY feature from the Wintel side I envied) one can remap right click to trackpad tap. Or remap right click to the button and left click to trackpad tap. It was the coolest thing I've installed this year and it's free. Hope Panther doesn't break it.

Actually, all Apple laptops use the ADB bus for their trackpad (or trackball, for the old ones). Even brand new ones with no ADB port use the ADB bus. I don't know why though.

If you made a business case and technological case to Apple (instead of conjecture and blue-sky subjectivity), then go for it.

I'm in the camp that uses only wheelie/multi-button mice, but still think that only one button mice should ship with new systems, and a multi-function mouse should be a BTO item, and distinguished as a PRO option.

Good luck on your proposal!

ADB, still? You must be joking.

SideTrack already works with Panther, that's one of my goals. Of course I can't promise that Apple won't break it somewhere before Panther final, but its pretty unlikely.

So Panther compatibility is pretty much guaranteed (remember I'm writing this stuff for my own use after all :-)

Another vote for SideTrack.. this is the trackpad driver that Apple should install as standard.

Many thanks again Basilisk
